8yr old girl chops hair for cancer charity

Eight year old Ellie from Upton on the Wirral decided that, instead of having a birthday party this year, she wanted to help children who have been affected by cancer.

Ellie told her mum, that she wanted to cut her waist length hair in order to raise money for The Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Ellie raised £190 through her Just Giving page to go towards the £350 cost of making a wig. This was topped up by Liverpool-based company, MyCSP, where Ellie’s mother, Kelly Freaney, works, with £200 being donated from its Community Fund.

Speaking about her daughter, Kelly Freaney, said “I’m so proud of Ellie who decided to chop off all 16 inches of her hair to raise money for The Little Princess Trust instead of having a birthday party. We’re also extremely grateful to MyCSP for their donation so that, in addition to her hair and the £190 pounds that she raised, Ellie could donate the full cost of making a real hair wig.”

David Boardman, Communications Director at MyCSP said, “It’s a pleasure to be able to support Ellie and her fundraising efforts for this wonderful charity whose work makes such a difference to the lives of children suffering from cancer.”
