MyCSP commemorates VE day and raises £5k for local causes
22 May 2020
Pension administrator MyCSP took time out of lockdown to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day and raised over £5k for local causes at the same time.
During lockdown, many charities have suffered as their usual fundraising activities have been cancelled which in turn means that those people who come to rely on the charities’ support would have suffered too.
Tom Fletcher, from the company’s Enquiry Centre came up with the idea of the ‘75 challenge’ which asked colleagues to commit to any target associated with the number 75. This could be answering 75 more emails a day, staying an extra 75 minutes across a working week or increasing productivity by 75%. Whatever the challenge, as long as it was met, the company’s community fund would award each participating team an amount of money which could be donated to their chosen charity.
Colleagues rose to the challenge and after a week of activities, over £5k was raised for the following local causes:
- The Florrie – a community-led hub based in Toxteth
- The Whitechapel Centre – supporting homeless people in Liverpool
- The Chelwood Food Bank – a food bank local to the Cheadle office
- Micah Liverpool – a Liverpool city centre based foodbank
David Boardman, Director of Communications and Engagement, MyCSP said;
‘Tom’s idea was inspired by the spirit of giving back to our community and he galvanised the entire company with his campaign. We know that for many local charities, the lockdown has hit them hard. We were pleased to be able to help out at this time of need’Back to news
