MyCSP donation packs a punch with local boxing club

26 Jan 2016

Local pensions services provider MyCSP, has donated £500, raised through the MyCSP Community Fund, to the Willaston Boxing Club - a Birkenhead-based club that supports young people providing health and social activities and keeping them off the streets.

Without funding from local supporters like MyCSP, the Willaston Boxing Club, a not-for-profit organisation which charges a nominal fee of just £1 for children to train, or £2 for adults per session, classes could be at risk due to a lack of some essential, basic equipment.

The Club is run by four AIBA-qualified and CRB-certified boxing coaches, including MyCSP employee partner John Sherlock. It serves the local community well by promoting fun through fitness whilst also providing a safe place for the younger members to learn how to. improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Nicky Hurst, chief executive said, “The MyCSP Community Fund was launched to help deserving causes. This is a particularly worthy cause as it offers a place for local people to socialise and get fit for a nominal fee that is affordable. However, the Club is entirely dependent on donations, so we’re delighted to be able to offer our support.”

John Sherlock, employee partner at MyCSP who helps run the Boxing club said: “Working at MyCSP, I recognise how giving back to the local community is a fantastic opportunity to help those causes close to us. I also see, personally, the benefit that this donation has on both young and older people alike who are members of our Club and who can see their fitness, confidence and self-esteem grow through this increasingly popular sport. This donation is extremely important to us, and we’re very grateful to MyCSP”.
