MyCSP helps Westhoughton Lions Rugby League club roar to success with donation

20 Jun 2016

MyCSP has awarded a £250 donation to the Westhoughton Lions Rugby League Club to provide players with new equipment and improved changing facilities.

The donation was raised through the MyCSP Community Fund after MyCSP employee partner Geoff Sheelan applied for the funding on behalf of the Club, where he volunteers.

The Club, which prides itself on being an active member of the Westhoughton community, comprises seven junior teams (aged from 4 to under 14) and one adult team, totalling 130 children and adults. The ‘cubs’ (aged 4-6 year olds) are not charged for training, nor are those that participate in their free weekly fitness sessions run by the club for the local community during the spring / summer months.

Geoff Sheelan, MyCSP employee partner, said: “We’re very much a community club. We want to help people get fitter, socialise and get involved in the local community. We’re extremely grateful for the funding from the MyCSP Community Fund as it will help us replace our equipment and upgrade our changing facilities, which are, at best, tattered.”

David Boardman, Communications Director said, “We believe in looking after the health and wellbeing of our staff and, if we can extend that support to the local community, then that’s fantastic. We like to help, wherever possible, with charities and worthy causes through our employee partners. We’re delighted to be able to contribute to the wellbeing of the Club.”
