29 Jun 2017

Brian Edge, from North Reddish, Stockport completed the Greater Manchester 10k raising almost £700 for Beechwood Cancer Care Centre.

The Beechwood Cancer Care Centre is a small charity based in Adswood, Cheadle which is entirely self-funded and relies on donations from fundraising events. Sadly, Brian’s wife lost her 15 year battle with cancer in 2015 and Brian has been fundraising for the centre, which supported Brian’s wife and family during and following her battle with cancer.

Brian’s daughter, Jenni, who works for local pensions services provider, MyCSP applied to her employers Community Fund, which supports employee nominated causes and charities such as these, and, as a result MyCSP donated £250 towards the fundraising for the centre.

Jenni Crompton, Brian’s daughter and MyCSP employee partner, said; "Beechwood Cancer Care Centre is an amazing place, and our family has always done what we can to help raise money for it. We are extremely grateful to MyCSP for this donation, as it helps ensure that the centre can continue to provide the same outstanding support to other families that my mum and our family received.”

David Boardman, Communications Director, MyCSP, said: “We are very happy to help with this excellent cause that does so much to help people suffering from cancer and their families at a difficult time.”

The MyCSP Community Fund was launched in September 2015 to support local causes and has so far donated over £26,000 to 43 different fundraising campaigns.
